In 2021 Amazon Prime Video invited us to take a trip back in time from a very modern perspective with one of its most ambitious series. In the form of an anthology, the platform wanted to recover the best of Spanish audiovisuals with one of the pioneers of the horror genre, Chicho Ibáñez Serrador. This visionary of the television medium created a unique format such as Historias para no dormir and, several decades later, this project was going to have a very special reboot, in which each episode would be signed by a different director.

The first season of the new Historias para no dormir was well received by its subscribers, although it could also be seen on TVE. The first four modern versions of Chicho’s stories were directed by Rodrigo Cortés (La Broma), Rodrigo Sorogoyen (El Doble), Paco Plaza (Freddy) and Paula Ortiz (El Asfalto). Just a few months later we learned that Amazon had renewed the series for a second season. Now that it has been presented at the Sitges Film Festival 2022, it seems a more palpable reality, but we will soon be able to enjoy the new episodes in our homes.
